In my view, you learn how things work…it helps you understand beyond what you can actually see! Science is really vast! In physics and chemistry you understand processes and interactions, forces, atomic reactions.. it allows you to understand the world around, from the water boiling to why some things can be mixed and other can not! In geology you learn about earth, how the planet evolves, what it is made of, how different rocks and minerals can be and how is our landscape made over million years! When it comes to biology you start to understand why living things are how they are, why do they react like that, why do they live in certain places, how to preserve them, how do species interact and how everything is connected and is really fascinating. Sure you can just go around seeing stuff, but it has no comparison with when you actually understand the why behind it!
