Unlike some of the other scientists on the site, the subject of my research is people!
I look at how people interact with the landscape in the presence of wind turbines – something that’s vitally important as they are currently the best solution we have to the impending threat of climate change. When we’re thinking about Ecology its essential that we also need to include a study of us humans (the people who live in and visit the places) as we are a major part of any ecosystem.
For the past two years I’ve spent every summer in the Welsh Countryside talking to the people that visit to find out more about what they think of wind energy. I’m interested in how wind turbines make people think about the countryside and how they think it would effect their behaviour. I love walking and the outdoors so my work gives me loads of opportunities to spend time in nature and travel. -
What I'd do with the prize money:
use it to take schools like yours up into the mountains to learn about the countryside through their cameras
